October November Festive Season Social Media Card Copy

The ‘C’ word, Christmas. It’s one of the busiest times of the year for everyone, with the many weeks leading up to the big December date packed to the rafters with Christmas dinners with work colleagues and friends, parties, days out with the family, perhaps going to see a show or a pantomime, carol concerts, as well as many other fantastic festivities that fill up your calendar.

During this busy festive period, you perhaps have found yourself needing to concentrate harder to follow conversations, particularly in noisy environments. Maybe you've noticed recently that you have started to take a step back from group discussions because hearing everything that's being said has become more challenging.

Hearing loss often develops gradually and creeps up on us. A bit like the way Christmas does, too. It seems a long way off until suddenly it's just around the corner. Before you know it, the festive season has arrived, leaving little time to address any hearing concerns before the celebrations begin.

From an initial hearing assessment to being fitted with hearing aids, the process typically takes around two to three weeks. It's also important to allow yourself time to adjust to wearing them and to make any necessary fine-tuning adjustments.

By acting early, you'll be in the best position to fully enjoy all the conversations, laughter and special moments that make Christmas so memorable.

Christmas deadline: For a fitting before Christmas, we recommend that a hearing assessment is booked before Monday 7 December.

Booking a hearing assessment at Mary Hare Hearing Centre

You can book a free hearing assessment with us. Following your booking, you'll be invited to the centre for an appointment lasting around 90 minutes.

During your appointment, we will:

  • Discuss any concerns about your hearing, changes you've noticed, and any relevant medical history.
  • Carry out a series of tests, including:
    • Otoscopy (an examination of your ears)
    • Pure tone audiometry
    • Speech in noise testing
  • Explain your results and any recommended next steps.

If we identify a possible medical condition, we will refer you to your GP. If hearing aids are recommended, you'll have the opportunity to try a demonstration pair and discuss the technology options available.

What happens if I choose hearing aids?

If you decide to proceed, we'll arrange a hearing aid fitting appointment, usually within 1-2 weeks of your assessment.

At your fitting appointment, we will:

  • Fit and programme your hearing aids using Real Ear Measurements (REM) for a personalised and accurate fit.
  • Help set up your devices, including connecting them to your phone if required.
  • Show you how to charge, clean, and maintain your hearing aids.

We'll also arrange a follow-up appointment around 2-3 weeks later to check your progress and make any necessary adjustments.

You can attend as many follow-up appointments as needed and will benefit from our 90-day money-back guarantee, giving you plenty of time to ensure your hearing aids are right for you.

What aftercare is available?

When you purchase hearing aids from us, you'll receive a comprehensive aftercare package at no extra cost, including:

  • Free aftercare for the lifetime of your hearing aids
  • Regular check-ups every 3-6 months
  • Hearing aid cleaning and servicing
  • A hearing test every 2 years (or sooner if needed)
  • Free wax removal
  • 2-5 year warranty
  • 90-day money-back guarantee
